With charm, warmth, and a voice of luminous elegance, soprano Neivi Martínez captivated audiences across Germany in her portrayal of Hanna Glawari, the celebrated “Merry Widow” in Franz Lehár’s beloved operetta Die lustige Witwe.
Presented by the Johann Strauß Operette Wien and organized by Konzertdirektion Schmidtke GmbH, this extensive Germany tour brought Viennese operetta tradition to life in 22 performances between December 2024 and January 2025.The production toured renowned cultural venues from Bad Wörishofen to Nürtingen, filling theaters with Lehár’s timeless melodies, dazzling choreography, and the unmistakable spirit of Vienna.
Martínez, a Universal Music artist and Ambassador for Peace, infused her Hanna Glawari with both grace and wit — embodying the sophisticated melancholy that makes Lehár’s heroine so captivating. Her interpretation, praised for its vocal finesse and emotional depth, highlighted her unique ability to merge operatic brilliance with human warmth.

Her performances took place in cities including Bad Wörishofen, Ehingen, Bad Homburg, Bingen am Rhein, Marburg, Limburg, Leverkusen, Solingen, Tuttlingen, and Nürtingen, among many others. Everywhere, she was met with enthusiastic applause and glowing admiration from audiences of all ages.
The tour — produced by Konzertdirektion Schmidtke, known for its dedication to preserving Europe’s operetta legacy — featured the Johann Strauß Operette Wien ensemble, celebrated for its elegant orchestral sound and authentic Viennese flair.
Beyond the music, the production served as a living bridge between Austria and Germany, reaffirming the enduring vitality of operetta as a genre of both sophistication and joy.
For Martínez, based between Vienna and Mexico, this tour was not only an artistic triumph but also a heartfelt journey.
